5 Surprising Superfoods…..

We have all heard the advantages to eating our blueberries and sipping our acia juice, but here are a few sleeper foods you may not think of……

1) White Button Mushrooms – Loaded with Vitamins B and D and minerals like Potassium and Zinc.


2) Corn – Many of us have some anti-corn prejudice because of high fructose corn syrup, but kept in it’s original form, corn can be quit beneficial with fiber, vitamin B and lutein (for vision).


3) Potatoes – Potatoes are a favorite of mine, but many people think of them as being unhealthy. Oh contraire! They have a ton of vitamins B6 and C, potassium, fiber, and a host of phytonutrients.


4) Peas – At 117 calories per cup, you get one-sixth of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of protein for the average U.S. female; a generous mix of vitamins C and B; plenty of fiber; plus vitamin K1 (crucial for bone health) and minerals like manganese, potassium, and iron.

5) Kidney Beans – Beans are packed with protein, fiber and are low in fat. It’s been shown that eating beans reduces the risk of heart disease. We like to pair them with quinoa; the combo is a nearly perfect nutritional meal.


So the next time you feel pressured into spending lots of money on some fancy fruits, just reach for a pile of peas and beans!
