Meet Elizabeth

Welcome to Just A Thawt, formerly Elizabeth’s Kind Cafe, formerly Not A Cool Mom.  Why all the changes? I guess the simple answer is because I’ve changed throughout the year…..thankfully.  I’m fortunate to have remained open minded to see and accept change when needed. The site is still about being kind to ourselves, the environment and animals. However, it’s also about sharing information about health, raising children, and more. I started the site when I had two children. I now have four, so at times I may be sharing “Just A Thawt”, without a ton of elaboration. Almost three years went by because I haven’t found the time to sit down and write a detailed post, but I still had so much to share. So, I changed the name to allow myself the ability to share brief posts without feeling like I haven’t devoted enough time. This could lead me off on a tangent about self acceptance, and forgiveness, but I’ll save that for a later blog post.  At the same time, most people don’t have a lot of time to read long posts, so hopefully this will work out for everyone.

I’m a former lawyer, turned stay at home mom to Noah 9, Henry, 7, Ben 5, and Harlow- almost 3.  In the past few years I’ve also become a Health Coach, and Raw Food Chef.

When I initially started blogging, the idea what to share tips on how to cook, compost, and garden while including your kids in the process. Kids love doing all of these things and they are not only great for our health, but for the environment as well.

As the site continued to grow, I still focused on these topics, but I also became a vegan. After doing a lot of research, I was saddened to find the countless ways animals are abused, and exploited to provide us with food. The more I looked into it, I also discovered the food they are providing is actually terribly bad for us.

When I initially launched the Kind Café, I was 100% all-in vegan, but we were faced with gut issues, and had to cut way back on grains. We now eat pastured eggs, raw honey, broth, collogen and occasionally salmon.

I also have a passion for finding cleansers, moisturizers, cosmetics etc. that are not harmful to our bodies (non-toxic) and kind to animals. Visitors to the site will find product reviews, Eco-friendly fashion finds, gardening and so much more! At one point I had a line of American manufactured vegan shoes, but when my third child was born, the traveling was too much to continue the line. I will come back to it one day as it is still a passion of mine.

If you have any questions about me, the site or anything else you can think of…… post it!
